Silverflame Expansion Joint

Silverflame® Expansion Joint is a composition of EPDM (ethylene propylene di monomer) binders and is designed to prevent the passage of fire, smoke and hot gases between two building elements whilst allowing movement in the building. The Expansion Joint is available to suit gap sizes from 10mm up to 90mm and is designed to be used in either the floor or wall.
At normal temperatures the Silverflame Expansion Joint remains flexible to permit thermal, mechanical and seismic movements. Using intumescent technology the joint expands (intumesces) when exposed to heat from a fire, filling the void between the two building elements.

installation

• Ensure void is free from all loose materials.
• Compress Expansion Joint between the fingers and push into gap.
• When a joint is required ensure that no gap is visible to the naked eye.
• No additional adhesive is required; a mastic seal can be applied to give a flush finish.

storage and disposal

Silverflame Expansion Joint is not affected by outdoor environment. However, for long-term storage it is recommended that it should be stored indoors. Any waste is to be considered non-hazardous.
