description |
Silverflame® Sealant and Coating is a water based ablative
acrylic composition, designed to provide a fire and smoke barrier when
installed with Silverflame Fire Batts.
The finished product remains flexible between 0°C to +70°C and in the
presence of fire the seal releases water to form a fire and smoke barrier up
to 4 hours for penetration seals.

• Glass transition temperature below 0°C and therefore the seal remains
flexible between -10°C to +70°C
• Not affected by fungus, vermin or rodent.

Water Vapour Permeability - 3.08 g/m²/24 hrs – ASTMD 1653
Fire Resistance - 4 hours to BS476 part 20 (for penetration seals)
Adhesion - Excellent to Most Building Surfaces

installation |
• Use rubber gloves and protection to avoid skin and eye
contact.
• Coat mineral fibre batt to a thickness of 1.5mm DFT / 2.4kg/m2 (spray
grade)
• Apply sealant to batts as advised in Firestopit installation manual
(trowel grade)
• Install sealant to a minimum depth of 10mm. For gaps over 10mm use a
backing rod (310ml cartridge grade)

storage and disposal |
Silverflame Sealant is not affected by the outdoor
environment, however for long term storage it is recommended that it be
stored indoors. Any waste is considered non hazardous. Shelf life is 12
months from date of manufacture.
