2 - Composition

The fire batt consists of a mineral fibre slab coated with Silverflame Sealant. It measures 1200mm x 600mm or 900mm x 600mm and is 60mm thick.

4 - First-aid Measures

Inhalation

Remove to fresh air and rest. If symptoms persist obtain medical advice.

Eyes

Irrigate with water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention if irritation persists.

Skin

Rinse contaminated area with plenty of water. If irritation persists obtain medical attention.

Ingestion

Wash out mouth with plenty of water. Give plenty of water to drink. Seek medical attention immediately.

6 – Accidental Release Measures

Ventilate Area. Wear suitable protective clothing : see section 8. Scoop up and place in container to wait transfer. Dispose of in accordance with local authority requirements.

7- Handling and storage

Wear suitable protective clothing (see section 8).

Minimise dust creation and ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid inhalation of dust or wool fibres. Avoid contact with skin or eyes. Cut the product with a sharp knife on a fixed workbench.

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, off the ground.

Ensure adequate ventilation for airborne dust particles
Wear suitable gloves
Wear eye goggles

Health Effects

Irritating to eyes, skin and respiratory tract.
Irritation is short lived as product has no acute toxicity
Directive 97/69/EC : Mineral wool fibre with a high bio solubility (such as this type) should not be classed as possible carcinogens

Not readily biodegradable.
Eco toxicity: Slightly toxic to aquatic life.

13 – Disposal Considerations

Any waste produced is controlled waste and should be disposed of in accordance with the general requirements of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 and Environmental Protection Act 1990. Dispose of in accordance with local authority requirements. Do not discharge into drains or watercourses

14 – Transport Information

No regulations apply for the transport of this material. Not classified as hazardous for road, rail, sea or air transport.
